What we collect, and why.
Effective 28 July 2026 · applies to fveda.site
1. The short version
FVeda is an educational simulator, funded (soon) by an optional subscription, not by ads or by selling your data. We collect the minimum needed to run the app and, if you choose an account, to sync it across your devices.
2. What we collect
Without an account, your paper portfolio, lessons, streak, and budget entries stay in your browser. FVeda still sends privacy-limited product analytics such as page views and feature actions; it does not send the contents of your budget, coach messages, form fields, or session recordings.
With an account, we store: your email address; your app data (paper-portfolio trades, budget entries, lesson progress, streak, coach chat history); notification preferences and any push-notification subscription you enable.
If you explicitly choose Publish public record for an earned credential, we publish a record containing the display name you provide, the credential title, its exact criteria, what the credential means, a short achieved-versus-required count, and the issue date. The public record does not include your email address, account ID, raw lesson history, trade notes, budget amounts or dates, coach messages, or other synced app data.
If you buy FVeda Plus, our payment provider (Paddle) collects your billing and payment details directly; FVeda receives only identifiers and your subscription status, never your full card number.
Product analytics: we record page views and actions like completing a lesson or making a paper trade to understand what helps people learn. These are tied to a random analytics ID, and to your account ID only if you sign in. We disable automatic click capture and session recording, and we do not send your email address to PostHog.
Audience measurement: we also run Google Analytics, which sets its own cookie and records page views, approximate location from your IP address, and basic device and browser information. It never receives your email address, your account ID, your portfolio, or your budget. It is a coarser count of how many people visit and from where; PostHog remains the analytics we actually use to improve the product.
3. The AI coach, and what reaches it
When you ask the coach a question, your question is sent to an AI provider to generate the answer. Depending on availability we use Vercel AI Gateway, NVIDIA NIM, Groq, OpenRouter, or Anthropic. Your email address and account ID are never sent with it.
Alongside your question we may send short situational context about the screen you asked from. For example which lesson you are reading, or your paper-portfolio holdings. Paper-portfolio data is simulated money, not real financial information.
Your budget figures are different: that is real money, so they are never sent unless you explicitly turn on sharing from the Budget screen. Until you do, the coach answers budget questions in general terms only. You can withdraw that permission at any time under Account → Privacy, and it takes effect on your next question.
Coach conversations are stored with your app data so your history survives refreshes and devices. Deleting your account deletes them.
4. Why we collect it
To provide the service, sync your data across devices, keep you signed in, improve the product based on what's actually useful, send the optional reminders you turn on, and process payments if you subscribe.
5. Who processes your data
Supabase: authentication and database (your account and synced app data).
PostHog: product analytics (usage events). Hosted in the EU.
Google Analytics: audience measurement (page views, approximate location, device type). Processed by Google, including outside the EU.
Resend: transactional email (welcome and streak reminders).
Paddle: payments and subscription billing, as our merchant of record.
AI providers (Vercel AI Gateway, NVIDIA NIM, Groq, OpenRouter, Anthropic): generating coach answers from your question and, where you have allowed it, the context described in section 3.
Market-data providers (Alpaca, CoinGecko, Yahoo Finance, and Finnhub): our server requests public prices and charts from them; we do not send them anything about you.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show third-party advertising.
6. Your choices and rights
You can use FVeda with no account at all. Your portfolio, budget, lessons, and coach data then stay on your device. Privacy-limited product analytics still apply as described above. You can turn reminder emails off from any reminder (one-click unsubscribe) and push notifications off in the app.
You control whether your budget figures ever reach the AI provider. It is off until you turn it on, and Account → Privacy shows the current setting and lets you switch it off again.
Publishing a credential record is optional and requires a deliberate action from its credential page. You can revoke a published record at any time. Its link then shows that the record was revoked while hiding your display name and activity evidence. Copies, screenshots, search caches, and social-preview caches made while it was public may remain outside FVeda's control.
